Pheasant Run Resort on fire: Department continues battling blaze in St Charles, IL

CHICAGO (WLS) — A major fire broke out at the former Pheasant Run Resort in Saint Charles in the western suburbs Saturday night. The resort has been closed since 2020 and there are no reports of injuries. Firefighters have continued to battle the blaze on Sunday after closing down part of Main Street outside the resort on Saturday night. The St. Charles Fire Department responded to 4051 East Main Street for the reported fire on Saturday afternoon. Read More...

Prince William County might offer relief from car tax during shutdown

Prince William County should delay collecting personal property taxes because of the federal government shutdown and the furlough of thousands of federal workers, Supervisor W.S. Covington III said Thursday. Also on Thursday, state Del. Robert G. Marshall (R-Prince William) asked Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R) to call a special session of the General Assembly to provide relief to Virginians during the shutdown. Covington (R-Brentsville) asked supervisors to support emergency legislation that would allow Prince William to delay the collection of personal property taxes, also known as the car tax, assessed by localities statewide.
